School
Assembly - Cultural Arts Program

A Cross-Curricular Educational Music Program ( Grades K - 8)
combining music, history,
science,
and the arts enhanced with
a unique Power Point Presentation and props.

Music is a universal language across nationalities and centuries. It is the
perfect vehicle to tie together the simple life of yesteryears through the
developments that have lead to modern life today.
With live classical music (cello and piano) and an accompanying PowerPoint
Presentation filled with photos, facts and thought-provoking ideas, out Time
Machine brings us across the ocean and back in time to see some of the most
famous European landmarks and to visit with famous composers like Bach, Mozart,
Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and others.
Parallel to this we watch how the United States grows out of its connection to
Europe by visiting with the founding fathers and other important American
historical figures.
Our goal is to give children an appreciation for the variety, conveniences and
choices that our modern life offers us and an understanding of where it came
from and how it got here.
Time Machine and the suggested activities in the study guide cover

Clara Mathilde Faisst Johannes Brahms
Inspired by Clara Mathilde Faisst's opus 5 "Melodie", which is based on an old
ballade, we received this wonderful poem written by Katharina, 13 years old:
A gust of wind from sea to shore,
gulls squawking at great heights,
water gently tapping the golden sand,
the sun reflecting on the clear surface.
This is the ocean, the sea, the shore.
...and Robin, 11 years old, wrote:
As the wind blows, the leaves
rustle in the trees.
When the squirrels scamper away, I see there is life, just in a different form.
I enjoy seeing nature, so beautiful in its own way.
Nature is life.
A miracle that is given to us all.
A miracle that should not be taken for granted.
